시애틀 통합 한국학교 11/18 '김장행사 / Gimjang Event'

시애틀통합 한국학교는11월 18일 ‘김장체험학습’ 이벤트를 진행했다. 김장 행사는 재외동포청과 대한민국 시애틀총영사관의 후원으로 운영되는 맞춤형지원사업입니다. 최근 한식에 대한 관심이 늘어나면서 해를 거듭할수록 참석자들의 열기가 높아지고 있습니다. 많은 분들의 후원과 참여로 매년 뜻깊은 이벤트를 갖게 되는 것을 기쁘게 생각하며, 김장행사를 통해서 한식의 우수성을 알리고, 한국학교 학생들과 참여한 가족들 모두 한국문화를 잘 배울 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간을 갖았습니다. ‘과거 추운 겨울을 나기 위해서 마을 사람들이 함께 모여 음식을 만들고 나누던 한국의 김장문화가 시대를 초월하여 앞으로도 면면히 이어질 소중한 공동체의 문화유산임을 학생들이 기억하길 바랍니다.

The United Seattle Korean School held a 'Gimjang experiential learning' event on November 18th. The Gimchi learning event is a support project sponsored by the Overseas Korean Agency and the Consulate General of Seattle of the Republic of Korea. Recently, as the general public’s interest in Korean food has increased, the enthusiasm of attendees is increasing year after year. With the sponsorship and participation of many people, we are pleased to have a meaningful annual event. We share the excellence of Korean food through events such as these. The students and participating families of the Korean School have a meaningful experience while also learning about the Korean culture. Our goal is for the students to remember the Korean culture; how villagers gathered together to create and share food for the cold winters. Kimchi is a part of the cultural heritage of a precious community that transcends time, and will continue to do so in the future.
